DJing

No significant event can be held without music, DJing in KARDO is like a healthy rhythm of heartbeat without which the body cannot function properly. By nominating DJing in KARDO we unite the best DJs, musicians and producers with a common goal - the development of culture and the best qualities in ourselves and in everything that surrounds us.

KARDO AND DJING

The phrase "disc jockey" was first heard in 1935 and already in the fifties this culture began to gain huge momentum. As a rule, blues and jazz were staged, but already in the 60's there was a turning point in the world history of music. At that time in Jamaica was literally a boom of discos and exactly there was born what would later be called Hip-Hop.

This Jamaican culture quickly settled in the U.S., and ten years later DJ Kool Herc came up with the idea of taking two identical records, catching a whip beat (break) and alternately played it from different decks. And that's when breakdancing came along. And in 1975 Grand Wizard Theodore invented one of the most popular vinyl effects, which is still in demand today - scratching. Toward the end of the 80s, DJing became so popular that manufacturers of audio equipment began to produce special equipment for DJs, which greatly facilitated performances.

The culture of classical DJing was finally pushed back by the emergence of new audio formats in the 90s. In 1985 the first DMC (Disco Mix Club) Dj Championship took place - a world DJing competition, which gave direction to a new full-fledged branch of Turntablism - the art of creating new music, sound effects and different rhythms with the help of two or more turntables and DJ mixer, and the term itself was created in 1995 by Dj Babu (Beat Junkies Crew). After that DJing was divided into club and technical DJing, the first one is when DJs play their sets in venues and festivals, and technical DJing is when battle DJs compete with each other for the title of the strongest in the World.

This year at KARDO 7 both directions of DJing will be present - club and technical.
